Muttom Beach

Muttom Beach is a serene and beautiful rocky beach in the village of Muttom, which is located in the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu. It is approximately 16 kilometres away from Nagercoil City and 33 kilometres from Kanyakumari Beach. The beach is known for its peaceful and less crowded environment, and it is famous for the unique rock formations.

Situated along the coast of Arabian sea, this beach boasts a distinctive combination of fine black and white sand. While the white sand is typical, the black sand is notable for its mineral-rich composition, which can offer therapeutic benefits to those who walk barefoot along the shore.

This Beach is a hidden gem and a must-visit destination if you’re traveling to the Kanyakumari District. As a person living in Kanyakumari, I often visit there to refresh my mind with the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the big rocks and to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the beach.

Muttom beach is a peaceful alternative to the bustling Kanyakumari beach, which is well-known for its stunning sunrise and sunset views. During peak hours, the crowds at Kanyakumari beach can be overwhelming, but this Beach offers a serene escape. For individuals seeking a calm and relaxing environment to unwind, muttom Beach is the ideal destination. Renowned for its scenic beauty, this beach has been a favourite filming spot for many popular South Indian movies.

Muttom Beach offers a good parking area for visitors, making it easily accessible by both private vehicles and public transport. However, beyond this convenience, there are no major developments or amenities in the area. In my opinion, this beach is underrated as a tourist destination, and the lack of development may deter international tourists from visiting. Visitors should note that there are no restaurants, shops, or accommodation options available nearby. To stay overnight, you’ll need to book a hotel in Nagercoil city.

During my past visits to the Beach, I did not encounter any safety concerns or difficulties. However, I did observe some local people consuming alcohol on the beach, which is not common on other beaches in the district. As a precaution, it’s best to avoid visiting the beach during late evening and nighttime hours. Apart from that, there is no need to worry about anything. Muttom Beach offers a calm and captivating environment, making it a beautiful destination to explore.
