The Sree Chithra Enclave Museum was opened to the public in 1993 to display the history of Travancore, and it is situated close to the Napier Museum. They are just a short walk away from each other, sharing the same compound. Both museums are managed by the Department of Museum & Zoo, Government of Kerala.
What’s convenient is that you can visit both the Sree Chithra Enclave and Napier Museums with a single entry ticket, which you can obtain at the ticket counter located in the Napier Museum building. Furthermore, there is a parking area available for visitors, and the fee for car parking is ₹150.
Recording videos is prohibited within the museum; however, photography is permitted.
Sree Chithra Enclave is open for daily visits from 10:00 AM to 4:45 PM, except on Wednesdays, with operating hours from 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM.
Inside the compound, a canteen is available, and since this museum is located near the entrance, visitors can also take a stroll to nearby shops outside the museum’s compound.
Now, let’s explore what’s inside the museum.
This museum showcases artworks by famous artists that depict the history and culture of the Travancore kingdom. In front of each painting, you’ll find detailed information explaining the art. Additionally, there are exhibits like a Golden Chariot, stamps from Cochin and Travancore, colorful fairy tale drawings by the king, army swords with covers, medals, Travancore coins, and more.
